Silas J. Rappleye

I have been a mom since 5:40pm on June 21st!
I guess to start I was at dilated to a 2 for two weeks (starting May 28th) and a 3 for two and a half weeks, for me this didn't mean much since I had heard stories of people being dilated to any number for quite some time. So I went in for a regular appointment on Monday the 18th and I was measuring small so we made an appointment at the hospital for an ultra sound that night. The doctor called me Tuesday afternoon and
since I had low fluid levels he felt that it would be a good idea to start me. He called and added my name to the list for Thursday. I was 4th on the list to be induced that day. I received a call on Thursday Morning at 9am telling me to come in at 10am to get the process started. So we went in at 10am, when the nurse checked me I was still at a 3. She started my IV at 11am and the Pitocin at 11:40am. The doctor came in checked me again I was at a 4 at 1pm when he broke my water. I got my epidural shortly after that. The epidural was quite a process with my extremely crooked spine, it took around 45 minutes for him to get it in properly. He was so nice and got me numb so I was happy for sure! Where the needle is usually at a 90 degree angle in my back he had to put it in at about a 30 degree angle to get it in the right place. At this point Silas' heart rate wasn't reacting well during contractions so they turned the Pitocin WAY down. My contractions were slowing down. She came in and turned it up a little more. By 2pm I was now a 9 1/2.  We waited for things to get a little further along and then after about 5 contractions in a thirty minute period we had our gorgeous baby boy! He weighed 7lbs 6oz and was 19in. Thursday went by pretty quickly for me. It all happened very fast. Looking back I don't know where the nine months of pregnancy went.

We are both in awe over our adorable little boy. As I new I would I spend countless hours staring at his beautiful little face!

Daddy's boy!
With Mommy minutes after his birth! Keep your eyes on him, he is much cuter !
Silas was welcomed by many family members at the hospital! Some we got pictures of and some got away without pictures, We loved having all of you there to meet our son!

31+

So I am now in my thirty first week of pregnancy. My baby is getting bigger and stronger! It is crazy to think that in just a couple months he will be joining us in this world. We are excited, but we can definitively wait for his arrival.

I have been craving:
*Chocolate (still)
*cottage cheese
*fruits
-strawberries
-raspberries
-kiwis
-oranges
-apples
*vegetables
-broccoli
-peas
-carrots
-corn

That is pretty much it. I Love that he is helping to make me a better eater! I already love this little guy a ton. Things have been going really well, I am anemic and on iron twice a day. I am working and I think work is helping me to keep healthy, I get some good exercise in those hours.

I am surprised I am putting this image out there into the world but there it is! (this is recent at 31 weeks)

Lately

So I think that I have been a pretty lucky person. My pregnancy has, so far, been pretty easy. I am starting to forget the first few months of nausea and not being able to eat like I was accustomed to. (which if you know my eating habits you understand) Well I happy to say I can again out eat Dick! Yay!

A few things I would like to remember and be able to tell my son when he is older.
-I LOVE CHOCOLATE! I can eat it all day long and I Love the taste more than I ever have before.
-I am craving Broccoli! I have liked it but I have never craved it like this.
-I Love coke! I TRY to drink it more sparingly but it is so delicious. (I have always loved it but I think that the baby Loves it too!)
-Sweets are a fun treat. At this stage I enjoy sweet a lot. In the beginning even though I wanted them they sounded yucky.
-When I sit down to relax I feel him move around like crazy. (My favorite part of the day!)
-I am amazed out how much my belly grows every week!

Just a few things to remember about this fun stage in my life.

This is 19 Weeks, I have grown "a bit" since then and I am currently 22 weeks.

Boy or Girl...

I am so excited that We will be finding out the gender of our little baby next week! Even though I have felt pregnancy symptoms it still feels so surreal. I think that once we see the little babe that things are going to start to become more real.

We are excited to welcome this life changing event and we look forward to the challenges that will come as well.
