I have been a mom since 5:40pm on June 21st!
I guess to start I was at dilated to a 2 for two weeks (starting May 28th) and a 3 for two and a half weeks, for me this didn't mean much since I had heard stories of people being dilated to any number for quite some time. So I went in for a regular appointment on Monday the 18th and I was measuring small so we made an appointment at the hospital for an ultra sound that night. The doctor called me Tuesday afternoon and
since I had low fluid levels he felt that it would be a good idea to start me. He called and added my name to the list for Thursday. I was 4th on the list to be induced that day. I received a call on Thursday Morning at 9am telling me to come in at 10am to get the process started. So we went in at 10am, when the nurse checked me I was still at a 3. She started my IV at 11am and the Pitocin at 11:40am. The doctor came in checked me again I was at a 4 at 1pm when he broke my water. I got my epidural shortly after that. The epidural was quite a process with my extremely crooked spine, it took around 45 minutes for him to get it in properly. He was so nice and got me numb so I was happy for sure! Where the needle is usually at a 90 degree angle in my back he had to put it in at about a 30 degree angle to get it in the right place. At this point Silas' heart rate wasn't reacting well during contractions so they turned the Pitocin WAY down. My contractions were slowing down. She came in and turned it up a little more. By 2pm I was now a 9 1/2. We waited for things to get a little further along and then after about 5 contractions in a thirty minute period we had our gorgeous baby boy! He weighed 7lbs 6oz and was 19in. Thursday went by pretty quickly for me. It all happened very fast. Looking back I don't know where the nine months of pregnancy went.
We are both in awe over our adorable little boy. As I new I would I spend countless hours staring at his beautiful little face!
